Back to School Newsletter

We would like to inform you of some changes in our arrival and dismissal procedures as well as our lunch hour for the fall of 2018. These changes are due to the loss of our blacktop space we  used as our playground. Students will be having morning recess in front of the building on the grassy area in addition to the gym.

  • ALL students who are driven to school in the morning. MUST BE dropped off behind the building at the end of the ramp.  You will no longer be able to drop students off at the curb in the front of the building.  If your child does not eat breakfast at school, the best time to drop them off will be between 7:35 and 7:45.  If they do eat breakfast, they may arrive at 7:20. The cost of breakfast is $1.00.

  • Students will be alternating recess spaces in the morning.  Half of our students will report to the gym and the other half to the front yard.  K-2 will be grouped together and grades 3-5 will be grouped together. A rotation chart is posted in the cafeteria.

  • Lunch time has been extended to 55 minutes to allot travel time for recess to the middle school football field located behind our new school.  Students will be given a 25 minute recess that will be monitored by grade level teachers before reporting to the cafeteria. They will then have a 30 minute lunch.  We hope that by playing first, they will work up an appetite and eat more lunch!

  • We will also be instituting a new dismissal procedure in preparation for our transition to the new building.  Car riders at the end of the day will be waiting in the lower hallway at the back of the building. As cars come up Wilson, your child will be called out to the end of the ramp and placed in your vehicle.

  • Finally, walkers will be asked to report to the cafeteria at the end of the day and will be released last.  As soon as our car riders and bus riders have pulled away, we will send our walkers out the front door and home.

NEW POLICY

The office will no longer be taking phone calls during the school day changing student transportation home after school.  Prior to the first day of school, please decide if your child will be riding the bus, will be picked up in the car rider line, or will be walking home.  Any changes throughout the year, will need to be communicated to the classroom teacher in writing on the day of the change. Please reserve changes for emergency situations.

NEW VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS

Volunteers are an integral and valued part of our daily operations. Without them, we would be unable to offer the excellent service our teachers have come to rely on.  Beginning with the 2018-19 school year, all volunteers who are working in the classroom or attending field trips will be required to be fingerprinted. The requirements are as follows and may be done at Clear Fork Board of Education (92 Hines Ave., Bellville):

  • If the volunteer has lived in Ohio more than five years, he/she will be required to have an BCI check at a cost of $28.

  • If the volunteer has lived in Ohio less than five years, he/she will be required to have both a BCI and FBI check at a cost of $55.

  • If you are volunteering to help out with classroom parties ONLY, you are not required to be fingerprinted.

Volunteers will not be permitted to serve in the buildings until the fingerprint reports have been received.  We appreciate your willingness to have this completed to ensure the safety of our students.

VOLUNTEERS

Please enter door A2 at the front of the building.  We ask that you sign in with Miss Sally and she will give you an lanyard with a volunteer badge.  This allows staff to know that you have checked in at the office.

SAVE THE DATE!!

On January 4, 2019 from noon to 3:00 we will host an Open House for students and families to see their new classroom and tour the building!!
